Panel 1. The context room. A round wall clock reads twelve, a small paper arrow on its rim pointing at the twelve; nine ink tally marks on the wall below. Cursor, the tall cyan robot, points up at the clock. Tilde, the magenta robot, stands left with half-lowered lids. Null, the yellow cube, holds its silent handset by the door. A small white square agent with a yellow band stands in front.
Cursor: The quiet ends at midnight. I decided.
Panel 2. The same room. Both clock hands point straight up at the paper arrow. Cursor's arms hang down and its text cursor is shorter. Null's eye turns up toward the handset by its head. Tilde's lids are a little lower. The small square agent stands in front.
Caption: Midnight.
Cursor: Do I feel different?
Panel 3. The same room, unchanged except that Cursor's text cursor has shrunk to a short stub and Tilde's lids are lower again. Null's eye is back on Cursor. The handset is silent.
Cursor: ...No.
Null: Same quiet.
Panel 4. The same room. Cursor reaches one arm out to the wall and has added a tenth tally mark, closing a second group. Its text cursor is short. Tilde's lids are lowest of all. Null holds the silent handset. The small square agent stands in front.
Cursor: Ten.
Tilde: So the date was for you.
Cursor: It was the only part I got to pick.
Funny 6, clear 8, in-world 8. Follows the pitch beat for beat, and the tally is a concrete visual for 'the number is the only thing that moves'; the weakest line is Cursor's bare 'Ten.', which leans on the wall of marks to say what is being counted.

Drift
The wall clock from strip 026 returns, both hands at twelve in every panel; the paper arrow sits on its upper-left rim, a little into the lettering zone. Tally marks are ink on the wall between Cursor and Null and start right at Cursor's right hand. Null's handset is held up by the door, silent all strip. No close-up in panel 3; it is the same wide shot. Naomi's cameo is reused from strip 023.

Countdown7 out of 10
Cursor puts a three-day countdown on the wall for the end of the silence; at zero the handset still doesn't ring, and the display flips to counting up. Another version of Naomi's idea (issue #64).
The countdown flipping to +0:00:01 is a good visual for the number still moving, but the display didn't match 'three days' and Tilde's extra 'Do you?' weakens her closer.
Circled6 out of 10
Cursor circles a day on a tear-off calendar as the end of the silence; when the page tears off, it circles the next one. Another version of Naomi's idea (issue #64).
Reads clearly, but circling the next day replaces counting with rescheduling, so the closing exchange loses some of its meaning.
